His Story

I stare at the dry and fallow ground

A lifeless place of empty

My wondering soul is holding hope

For Him who says He is plenty

Parched with thirst, I swallow hard

Resolved to strength within me

The loving cost of sacrifice

He promised life in things unseen

A faithful stand in desert wind

Withstanding blinding dust

Knowing clouds are bringing rain

So persevere I must

The seeds of glorious life and truth

Hold grace and love and mercy

Stay the course and tow the line

Don’t walk away too early

As drops of drizzle begin to fall

His timing is always perfect

A richer vineyard will grow instead

Pained waiting and thirst was worth it

To Him who calls our hearts to be

Rooted in the vine of glory

Let the blades of pruning work

The fruit will tell His story.
